MSM Spray Description

MSM, or methyl sufonyl methane, is the 8th most abundant element in all living organisms – in the atmosphere, plants, animals and humans. It exists in all tissues, especially those highest in protein, like red blood cells, muscles, skin and hair. Ever tried to burn your hair? The odour is the smell of sulphur.

This sulphur sourced mineral is critical to the normal function and structure of the body. MSM sprays can provide the raw material for protein and connective tissue that make up our body mass, for enzymes that conduct countless chemical reactions, and for powerful natural compounds that protect us against toxicity and harmful oxidative stress.

Product Ingredients

Deionized water, methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM).

What is MSM spray?

MSM is derived from DMSO. When DMSO enters the body, approximately 15% is converted to MSM, its major breakdown component. The body attaches an oxygen atom to a portion of the DMSO molecules and becomes DMSO2, or MSM. Also, MSM has a molecular weight of 94, vs 78 of DMSO, are both similar to water, which means that MSM and DMSO can both be absorbed by the skin, but MSM is not a carrier like DMSO is.

Another key point about MSM spray is its safety. In long term toxicity trials, MSM is found to have no toxic effects. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US as a food.

Why should I use MSM spray?

Besides gels, creams or capsules, you can also get MSM spray in liquid form. GLOHS MSM spray is food grade, which means that you can spray it into water and drink. Some people find capsules hard on the stomach, and MSM spray can mitigate that. You can also apply our MSM spray directly onto the body and absorb through the skin.

What are the key benefits of using MSM spray?

Benefit #1 – Softens scar tissues

By applying MSM spray on your skin, it is able to alter the crosslinking process (a process in which new structural proteins are knitted to existing healthy tissue at the sites of surgical incisions or traumatic damage in the body) in collagen and softens scar tissues. Apply MSM spray on acne scars or wounds, and you will find a faster and better healing process.

Benefit #2 – Prevents premature aging

Sulphur is a major ingredient of important amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, which in turn are the primary constituents of enzymes, hormones, antibodies and countless other biochemical activities in the body. Proteins are key material to muscles, bones, hair, teeth, skin and blood. In children, deficiency retards growth. In adults, it shows up as chronic fatigue, mental depression, weakness and low immunity, slow healing of wounds etc.

Cysteine, which is produced from methionine, an essential amino acid, is responsible for protecting sensitive tissues from excess oxidation that causes disease and premature aging. Nutrient levels tend to decline with age as the body becomes less efficient. Essential vitamins like B6 (vital for skin health) exist in lower quantities in elderly than in younger people. Applying MSM spray on skin can prevent premature aging.

Benefit #3 – To gain energy

Have you ever felt tired and spent by the afternoon? This is mainly because your body’s ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, which is the body’s main source of energy, is being used up. As we go about our everyday activities, or when we are exercising, muscle cells need to produce more ATP from stored sugar (glycogen). Lactic acid is produced by the body, which combines with oxygen to produce glycogen, which gets converted into ATP. This process slows down over the course of the day.

The use of MSM spray on our body, especially when applied to tired muscles directly, will speed up ATP production, giving us a burst of energy. You can also add GLOHS MSM spray to your water and drink.

Benefit #4 – To speed up wound healing

Since Ancient Greek times, hot springs have been used to aid wound healing. Many athletes who exert their muscles in an extreme way, use MSM spray or soak to reduce the inflammatory process. Don’t forget how we all love to visit onsens in Japan and feel relaxed afterwards. Many cultures over the centuries have used sulphur to aid wound and general healing.

Benefit #5 – Cure headaches

The vast majority of headaches are related to combinations of muscle spasm at the back of the neck and changes in blood vessels feeding into the head. Tension is often an underlying cause and can be generated from emotional stress, fatigue, misalignment of the cervical spine, premenstrual pain, nutritional deficiencies, eye disorders or medication.

Apply MSM spray directly to where the headache is – temple, forehead etc. MSM spray is useful primarily for headaches related to tension and muscle spasms. It is less useful for migraine headaches. However, migraines often involve a fair amount of muscle spasm, and MSM spray can help with that.

Benefit #6 – To aid constipation

Constipation, a condition in which bowel movements are infrequent or difficult, is a common problem amongst city dwellers, women and the elderly. If you apply MSM spray to the stomach, or take MSM supplements (or both), MSM produces a general “tonic” effect in the bowels and normalises bowel function. This stems from MSM’s ability to inhibit cholinesterase, an enzyme that slows or blocks flow of impulses along nerve pathways to the gastrointestines, a common condition as we age. Use of MSM spray will help increase bowel movement.
